Prawns!!!! (And Leftover Curry)

Cost: $5

Prep: 10 minutes

The highlight of this meal was the prawns. I used a decent amount of butter and a LOT of garlic. Yum! Delicious!

Our boy, who we thought didn't like prawns, ate a half dozen and would have had more if we were willing to part with them, which we were not.

We ate the prawns on the side of the leftover curry from a few days ago. Matt didn't think it would be enough, but I haven't been too hungry lately and it more than sufficed.

"Hmm, I guess I will try this..."
"That was good. Let me be cute so you will give me more."

Sole Curry

Cost: $5

Prep: 30 minutes

We tagged team dinner tonight, and the prep went QUICK. Matt has been being a huge help in the kitchen, which is awesome, as it has been running very smooth.

Tonight, Matt whipped up a curry while I did the fish, rice, and dessert.

The curry had peanut butter, coconut milk, garlic, ginger, red pepper, green pepper, onion, baby corn, and an assortment of spices.

The fish, sole, was lovely, but way too small a serving. Charlie loves fish, and there just wasn't enough for him considering I seem to have only bought just over 100 grams.

Anyway, it was a decent meal with lots of leftovers. We ate very sour fresh strawberries for dessert, after which Charlie did his adorable baby sign and little word "more", which sounds more like "mohr".

Gross Salmon

Cost: ???

Prep: 15 minutes

This dinner was gross. Matt made it, but that wasn't why. I hated the salmon. It was maple-something, and just awful.

Everything else was good: rice and salad. The salad was especially good: cheese, bacon, red pepper, and carrots.

Charlie liked the rice. I am pretty sure he ate about a cup to himself, and then got another 1/2 cup on his lap.

Simple Salmon

Cost: $6

Prep: don't remember

This was Thursday night (it is Saturday). I don't remember much about it, but here is the basics.

Veggie: broccoli. Steamed, then quickly tossed in a pan with some soy sauce and olive oil.

Rice

Salmon. Frozen. Mild Chipotle. Very uneven portions. I am glad we only have one child who is not a big eater, as one piece was the size of a tube of lipstick.

Non-slammin' salmon

Cost: $6.50

Prep: 15 minutes

And by non-slammin', I mean lame. AND, it turns out there is another boy in my house that doesn't like salmon (Matt doesn't either).

I tried to make this more interesting. I added some spices and radishes to the rice. It was okay. Charlie really liked it, but to me, this whole dinner was meh anyways.

I made my favorite vegtable: steamed broccoli, which the baby refused as well. I was also going to make some zucchini, but Charlie stole it and freaked out when I tried to take it back and cut it up, so I just let him gnaw on it, and figured, whatever, let him.

The meat was a previously frozen wild salmon fillet. It was on sale for a great price, only $4.12. It weirded me out that there was a code on it for you to look up the fisherman that caught the salmon. I would NEVER eat farmed salmon or feed it to my family, but I also trust that when a store puts "wild" on a package, that it is actually wild. Have there been problems with this? Why are people so untrusting? I guess it doesn't matter, but I don't need to look up the fisherman, although maybe I should and feature him on here :) Anyway, I cooked it in some soy sauce, and it tasted nice.

This meal left me hankering for something else. I am currently bingeing on cereal--Brown Rice Krispies, not bad. Charlie ate so little, I really am hoping it doesn't affect his sleep. In fact, he was so hungry, when my back was turned, he used his little shovel from the shower to drink toilet water. Gross.

Hurry Hurry! Time for Curry

Cost: $15

Prep: 40 minutes

I didn't update any further than pictures this week, but I thought I would add a bit of explanation to a couple posts.

This was a Madras curry. 2 packets + 3 chicken breasts + 1 sweet potato + 2 red skin potatoes + small head of cabbage + package of snow peas + 2 cans coconut milk. Served with rice (starch heavy, I know).

It wasn't cheap, but it made dinner for 4ish and 3 days of lunch.
